My name is Lourdes Alvarez, better known as Lula. I have completed a 3 years degree licentiate with the City College of Acupuncture (Lic.Ac.), a school accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board. I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC), and abide by a code of ethics which maintains high standards of education, discipline and practice.

I am originally trained as a Theatre Designer at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art & Design in London & as a Butoh dancer in Denmark. I have also worked in the Fashion, Opera and Film Industries for more than a decade.

Due to multiple dance injuries and highly demanding job pressures my health started to deteriorate rapidly. The struggle to get ‘fixed’ began, leading to demoralising and endless different Western Medicine diagnosis and medications.

It was by recommendation, and ultimate desperation, that led me to my first Acupuncture treatment. It was then when my personal journey to self-discovery deepened. Acupuncture had a profound impact on my emotional wellbeing so much so that I embarked in a lifetime pursuit to discover the knowledge and philosophies behind this ancient Medicine.

My approach

Health empowerment is vital and the relationship between practitioner and patient, based on trust, respect and information is essential. I believe in team work as the practitioner knows about acupuncture but the patient knows about their own body.

Every single treatment is tailored to the patient’s needs. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) aims to address the core of the condition not only the symptoms, treating the root not only the branches, following Ben & Biao TCM approach.

I am particularly interested in psycho emotional conditions such as anxiety and depression, musculoskeletal injuries and women’s health.
